 Dreamcrystal a levegőben vágtatva érkezett erre a fura helyre, amikor majdnem belerohant egy délibáb szerű "álomba"!Bár nem lett volna baja, ha belemegy, de azért kikerülte és leszállt.Megállt és lentről figyelte a furcsa jelenségeket! |

It sobered up Catly, somehow. That look killed most of her destructive flames.
- What.....what happened....? - she asked in a small voice.
Eris looked down. She understood the question.
- I barely remember as well. Maybe it's for a good reason that neither of us can remember. After the ceremony of Forapsis and Riem we traveled more and more. Farther and farther away from home. Then...everything just fades away if I force my mind to keep looking back into that time...........The next thing I know is the hut.....You keeping me a prisoner, but keeping me alive. Then......I became your...talisman.......Then everything became so confusing......but I remember Riem and Zenit. I remember creating them. I remember happiness.....Then you were gone. I waited and waited......I waited for so long. When I understood how dangerous that waiting was for us, it was almost too late. I sacrificed a lot to leave the hut, but I escaped with the children. I spent my lifetime searching for you. The next life I didn't meet with you but I found them. I went to the Ends again. I....lost something there. I cannot remember what it was. But it granted me this life, this body, these powers I have now...and.....now we met. Again. |
Eris sighed softly.
- All of.......us......was a long time ago....I don't even know how are you here, right now. Apparently, we are....in a future, far away from you...........I guess, you really had to see us, for some reason.
But she looked unsure. Never before the Witchlady was so weak in guessing something about magic.
Catly looked back at the window.
So many unsaid words danced around in her mind......So many feelings squeezed her heart painfully.
Eris suddenly stood up, and stepped closer. Only one step, and her eyes were so cautious like she was a deer approaching an unknown lake.
- They will grow up being loved. They will grow up to be happy and strong.
Catly gasped for air, only once, and looked away.
- Do they.........do they....remember? Do they...know...me?
Eris became distant in a heartbeat.
- Yes - she answered quietly - Small prints of you still exist in them. Riem is half you, after all, right? - she said with a small, pathetic smile.
Catly was thinking, thinking, measuring, doubting to...
- No.
She looked up with huge eyes.
- What?
- No, you cannot see them. You can't meet with them - said Eris simply.
The human figure felt unbelievable fury slowly waking up in her...
- You cant' be serious! You want to forbid me to...
- No. I don't want anything like that. But this appearance of yours is your dream. And you didn't create a door. Only a window - answered the witch with a horrible, dry, flegmatic voice.
Catly's eyes became even bigger.
The she looked back at the window..........which was gone..............
- NO! - she shouted with pain, anger and earth-shattering disappointment.
- No, no, NO NO NOOOO! - she howled looking around again and again, but...the stone walls stayed bare all around.
- Can't you do something?! You said this is your place! - she turned to the witch, almost accusingly.
Eris slowly shook her head. Her eyes hid pain well, but not perfectly.
- I'm connected to them, but not through space. And they aren't in the dream world. I guess I could go to them, but you wouldn't be able to come there with me. This meeting of ours is an amalgamation of my existence here and your dream. They aren't really connected to this enough to be reached........I think you could see them, but.......whatever brought you here, it wasn't for you to really step and sink into this life.....
- But I have the right to....
- I know. They are yours. Just as much as they are mine, or in some cases even more. I won't be a mother for all of them, not really, not in this life and not in any other lives either.
Catly cursed loudly then shook her head.
- This is unfair - she whispered, fighting back her tears.
- I'm sorry - said the witch with a tiny whisper.
- Are you? Really?!
But when all her fire and rage wished to turn onto Eris, Catly only met with understanding eyes.
- I had time to think. For many years I only had time and nothing else - she said slowly, and for a flicker of time, an ageless, tired, burnt-out creature stared back at Catly from the golden eyes. |
Suddenly a window was there, on the stone wall, next to them. Like it had been there during the whole damn time, but.....they both knew well that window only appeared in that very moment.
Catly looked at it with some caution. With a critical side-eye she checked Eris, but the witch was already starng out the window, with a heartbreakingly soft smile.
It was a smile which only existed for a few..............
Catly had thought, until that moment, that that very smile had been a fabrication of her mind......She had seen it so long ago...............and it had been directed at her....nobody else ever....
So she stood up and marched to the window.
And then she stood, like she froze to the stoned in front of the carved sand-stone pieces....and tears started to slip from her eyes slowly.....
A meadow was out there, bathing in sunlight, all the high green grass dancing in the wind all over there. It must have been a sunny summer day out there.
And four figures played there some kind of a chasing game apparently.
Two tall, young teen ran around in quick circles, a boy and a girl. In their circle a huge, beautiful, skyblue leopard-looking creature stood proudly, a half-opened peacock tail fighting with the wind where a normal tail should have been......In front of the catlike beast a screaming, laughing little girl jumped and ran, almost, but bot-really chasing the two older kids. The girl's hair was completely switched out to gentle, small, soft peacock-feathers, her sking glowing like bronze.
Catly had to stare at all of them again and again. But the two older children.......................
They were.....frightening....because she was sure she hadn't seen them ever before. And she was just as sure as she was about her own name that she knew those two kids............
They girl suddenly stopped and twirled around, like a dancer. At the end of teh movement, only for a half-heartbeat, she stared back, in the direction of the window.
Catly had to step back. She was fighting for air, like someone punched her in the chest. Not just someone, but most probably a dragon....
She whipped her head back at Eris, who was already watching her. With very-very calm eyes.
- Those...those.....children......Who are they? - whispered Catly, with broken words.
Eris looked back at the window.
- You know them. You know their names. At least the older two.
Catly's tears started to flow. She looked back at the sunny field too, where the game already continued.
- That's.....that's........that's Riemreira.........I know.....but....but
- You know the boy too - said Eris softly.
And Catly suddenly understood. Or at least her heart did.
- That's Zenit?! - she shouted and whirled around to stare at Eris.
Only a nod was her answer.
- Apparently our meeting is written in our Fate. In every, or in almost every lifetime we are destined to meet. You, me, Zenit and Riem. Oyole and Farris are....unknown threads in our colourful tissue, but...they are here now................
Catly had to wipe her eyes clean.
- When....when is this? - she asked a bit awkwardly. She just couldn't wrap her mind aound this!
- Later.... - whispered Eris softly.
Catly looked at her with confusion. But the witch whole face showed.......compassion.
And it wasn't something what Catly wished to see.
- What....what is it? What do you mean? - she asked with some annoyance....but with even more worry.
Eris started to speak. Slowly and softly.
- You know that in magic, and especially in dreams, and even more so with your powers in magic and in dreams time isn't really.....linear........right?
Catly said a quick "yes" after some time. She really stared to hate where this was heading...............
- This isn't really a life connected to...........any of those lives me talked about earlier tonight.......
Catly paled.
- For me....this is my fourth life after Simbelion. For them......it's a bit more, I think..........
Catly staggered back.
- WHAT?! |
Catly finally looked around again.
- You..live here? - she asked finally.
Eris lifted her gaze up to her. Like she wasn't sure Catly really tried to make small talk....
- Yes...I like it here. I can build or destroy anything in a heartbeat. And no one gets hurt.
- Are you....alone? - came another question, with a searching, almost worried gaze.
Eris shook her head.
- No. A real erisian is never really alone, remember? |
Eris still behaved like a drugged, sleepy, sick figure. She wasn't looking at Catly anymore. She just stared at the stone wall, next to them.
And Catly couldn't wrap his head around this.....dream.
She took a few deep breaths, then slowly said:
- Why did you leave? Please tell me.....I want to know. I deserve to know. And if this is the place where desires can be fulfilled, then hear me: I want this, more than anything!
Eris slowly wrapped her arms around herself. Her voice was dreamy, distant, when she spoke:
- In that life....We couldn't figure out anything. We were....two lost souls....Basically cut away from our...home......I don't really know why or how we got there...I'm not sure if that wasn't a punishment....But that life was a burden. We had to make the most of it, yeah, and we met, yeah. But.....we couldn't really....live. For long. When we finally fabricated a....nice picture about ourselves, it was....a very-very nice scenery, to be honest. And we had to follow the storybook of the tipical play, which could have been....played...or more so..lived.....by us....in that scenery.....
Catly wasn't even sure Eris didn't loose her mind, after hearing more and more from her. But she kept listening. She had to.
Eris suddenly took a big, pathetic breath. Like she swallowed back something terrible.
- You made a decision, back then, Catly. An important one. A good one. Really.
- Which one? What was that decision? - she asked quickly, whispering, searching for something in the pale, strange face.
- You chose a human life - answered softly the other.
Catly almost laughed.
- Yeah, and? It's a human world, didn't you realize?! - she asked in an uncaring tone.
Eris answeered with a nod.
- Then why was that such a big terror, for you?? We had human lives there!!! Both of us! - protested angrily the smaller figure.
- When you make a decision, you choose a path - came the answer softly.
Catly's face became unsure.
- And...?
- That path wasn't mine. At all. And I couldn't even keep going next to yours - she said so-so softly, like it was a huge secret, which had to be protected.
Catly felt like she was the one, who got slapped.
- What...? What? But...This doesn't make any sense! Yes, I chose a human plan, to have a fulfilled life, but it wasn't ever part of my plan to exclude you! You were included!! In everything! I planned it all that way! With you! Not without you! - she almost shouted at the end, more and more disbelief, shock and anger filling her again.
Eris shook her head.
- Catly, you don't see it...
- Oh, well, then enlighten me, please!!!
- Your plan included me, originally, hidden behind some kind titles and roles, in your life....But after some time....it would have been turned around....
- What the hell are you talking about???
- Originally, you wanted to keep me in your life, and since in a human world I couldn't have a name, a real one, for myself, as part of your life.....you wanted to give a name....some kind of name......to at least call me and my role in your life...any way.....But after some time....that name would have been the thing to really define me. And not just...a camouflage. I couldn't let that happen. I couldn't....let the scenery make me something else, instead of just hiding me....
Catly shook her head, like crazy.
- No, no, no, no! You got it all wrong!
Eris looked back at her, almost in a challenging way.
- Did I? You found yourself a life there. You grabbed it and decided to live it, truly, and....it's a good thing....
- Oh, don't make this all about me! You were selfish, just like me! So many times...
- we betrayed each other? - cut through Eris. Catly just stared at her, with pain. Eris continued, slowly, a bit awkwardly, like a child, searching for the right words:
- I know we did horrible things....to each other....I guess.....I wanted us to stop sinking...I wanted to stop the poisoning........To be honest, I cannot live wholly in a human world....And you had to try.........
Catly's eyes filled with grief.
- I never wanted this to happen.
- Me neither - answered the witch sadly.
They sat there, blanketed in sorrow. |
- What?! What?!?! What happened?! Tell me, please, do tell me!!!
Eris slowly sank to the floor.
- I felt it........ - she said so, so quietly.
Catly looked at the other with abhorrence.
Then she slowly sat down too.
- What are you talking about?
- Fate changed. It moved. And moved. The paths.....started to drift away. There is no power in the multiverse to force paths together.....
- You mean....our paths? - Catly laughed out loud - We are soulmates, Eris! Our paths are destined to...
- To meet! - snapped back suddenly the witch, after the many, many soft words. Her eyes almost lit up with some twisted fire.
Catly shook her head.
- We could have.....we could have stayed together!! - the said forcefully.
Eris finally looked into her eyes. With a honest, tired expression.
- Don't lie - she said simply.
- I am NOT lying! You saw it wrong!
- Then you are lying to yourself as well.
- Oh, don't start this!!
Eris shrugged again.
Catly wanted to slap her. Again. |
Catly grit her teeth.
- You cannot possibly ask this....You cannot think this, for real! This is just a fucked-up dream, right? You aren't...you are not..... - she shook her head, almost madly.
Her eyes were filled with horror and pain and panic.
Eris shrugged again.
- There is no way to really prove anything's or anybody's real nature here. You are free to think whatever you want. See? I can't do anything to you to think or feel or see anything else than what you want. So.....
She suddenly turned her head a bit to the side.
- Whatever - she said with a bitter smile.
Catly gasped again and stepped back once more, with a pained expression.
She got her answer, somehow........
- This empire is my everything! Always was, always will be!!! I made it! You only came later! Much later! How...how can you.....How dare you to doubt me?!?!?!? - she howled finally like a rabid wolf, after the dumb semi-sentences.
Eris only answered with her first real and honest expression: a small, broken smile.
- But it already happened, Catly. |
Catly moved her shoulders a few times. This dream was a nightmare!
- How do I get away from here? - she asked finally.
- You can leave. Just start walking. If you want to get away, this place will grant it for you. Or you will wake up, eventually - came a simple, calm answer, still with that so-so-quiet voice.
Catly stopped looking around and stared at the witch with narrow eyes.
- I can just leave? - she echoed.
Eris shrugged again, still playing with the small light with her fingers' movements.
- I told you. This is the place of desired things. If you want to leave, you will.
- And you won't stop me.....
Eris looked for Catly's gaze, but only for a second.
- Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. You know the rules of magic - she answered with a dry voice.
- Right now I find it hard to believe you! - snapped the human-like from with an intensifying fury.
- Believe what you want.....
- Oh, stop this, you Goddamn TRAITOR! - screamed Catly with an ungodly, terrible roar, and the whole place shook with it!
Apparently she had some powers still....
Eris stared at her with comically wide eyes, all her little flickering lights disappearing, darkness getting stronger around them.
- You want me to believe that I am not here because of you?! That this is not another game of yours?! Something to trick me? Something to strangle my soul to a twisted thing? You played and played and played with me, a fucking tug-o-war with my very being, then, when you got bored, you threw me away! And you blamed me for it!!! - screaming echoed in between them, painful knives of heartbreak. So loud it hurt.
Eris waited in silence. Her face getting more and more lifeless, her eyes becoming so distant like she couldn't see anything but another universe anymore with them.....
And Catly gasped for air, not even understanding where all this came from.....and the place's energy trembled around her, while she didn't even remember standing up. But the horrible feeling in her heart was burning and all-consuming.
- SAY SOMETHING!!! - she screamed again. This time energy exploded out from everywhere and it barely missed Eris. But the strange black throne she sat until then, cracked into two under her.
It wasn't clear if she got hurt by the stones or not...she was still completely silent.
The witch got up, with a slow, sensual movement, like a snake, and stepped down the two steps in front of her. She kept her eyes down, on the ground. Like a living, walking, perfect statue.
Catly wanted to shake her. Or scream more and more until one of them got hurt by the sounds. Or slap her. Or maybe cut into her to see if this is just an illusion, a dream for real, an Eris, purely made out of buried-alive-desires.......
Maybe she wanted to walk away....
Maybe....
- Would you even try to make me stay? - she whispered, surpising even herself.
Eris looked up, finally.
She looked old.
- And what good that could possibly bring? - she whispered back.
Catly stumbled back, disbelief filling her.
- What?! What did you just say?!
Eris slowly waved a hand around them.
- Is here anything for you? Anything left? You could bring yours with yourself, back then......You didn't even glance back, not even once. You know it. So...what's here that could mean any value to you? |
- Desires?! What?! - barked Catly with hot-headed disbelief.
Eris shrugged.
- This is the place's name and origin.
- And how, in the name of all that's fucking Holy did I get here?!?!?!
Eris looked almost surprised because of the sudden outburst. Almost. Then....she just looked and looked at the form kneeling on the black stones.
- I live here these days, yes. Mostly I just.....simply exist here. But I did nothing to bring you here - she answered after a long pause. Her voice stayed calm...but...somehow....the emotions changed.
- So what? I dreamed myself here?!
Eris slowly raised a hand, and some lights flickered out from thin air around them. They didn't fill the place with any kind of glow, everything stayed shady around them and between them, but....they somehow made them look like....like they were alive.
Catly followed the small, dancing lights with a bit nervous expression.
- I won't hurt you - said Eris quietly. Almost like a whisper.
Yet....it was painfully clear in the chamber.
Catly shuddered.
- Oh, I'm not afraid of that! - she barked again - We are beyond that, aren't we? - she hurled the horribly bitter insult like a curse into the air.
Eris face suddenly closed in on itself, like a creature turning into marble in a heartbeat.
- I guess - she answered quietly, and her eyes wandered away from Catly. |
The gasping form of the young human girl sat up with a twitch, right after "waking up".
She looked so much younger than what she shoud how looked....and horriby human. Her eyes jumped around all over the place she found herself.
A cave? A big room, built-up from rough stones? Hazy semi-darkness.....
A tiny, rustling noise made her turn around with a jump.
Faded golden eyes stared at her from a not-really-familiar face.
But she KNEW who she looked at, immediately. A bored and silky voice greeted her finally:
- What a surprise, I should say.....Hello, Catly....
Shock and disbelief filled the human form's eyes. And some weak, slowly rising, well-hidden anger.
- Eris?!
The white-haired form waited for a heartbeat. Or two. Then a nod. Small, quick.
- Where am I? How...why.....Did you bring me here? What is this place?! Is this.....real? - demanding slowly turned into unsure guessing.
The other one looked around in the dark place. Like she also tried to find answers. Facts.
- You brought yourself here - she answered slowly - I don't know how...or why....But this is a place where thoughts can form reality very easily. I guess that's the reason.....
- And what is this place?! - demanded Catly again, her furious eyes searching and searching for any signs of hidden truths in the other's face.
- The land of dreams....Dreams of deries, actually - came a quite amused, lazy answer.

 Hátra sem kellett néznie, hogy tudja Kapriko mikor kezd el arra gondolni, hogy bárcsak a fiával lenne, és hogyan tűnik el innen egy szempillantás alatt.
A pegazus kinyújtózott, és arra gondolt, hogy őszintén reméli Kapriko boldog a csikójával. Mert a Birodalom hatalmas, és ő odakinn aligha akad rá......Olyan képességekkel, mint ami neki maradt, nem valószínű, hogy bárkit is meglelne.....
Megrázta a sörényét, fájdalomra gondolt, és nagy rándulással magához tért a sivatag peremén. |
*Nem is merte volna remélni, hogy ilyen egyszerű lehet a dolog.
Amint kimondta Viharszív az utolsó szót is, máris Morséra gondolt.* |
Viharszív nem nézett, hátra, de hangja nyugodt és békés maradt, ahogy a kancához beszélt:
- Ő odakinn van. Olyan vágy, amit nem az álmaidtól, hanem a valóságtól kaphatsz meg. Akarod látni? Csak gondolj rá! |
*Már szimplán a gondolatra is elmosolyodott.*
- Igen, a fiam - *válaszolta szeretetteljes hangon.* |
Hátatfordított Kaprikónak, és az égre meredt, háta fölött hattyú módra boltívvé merevítve szárnyait.
- Vár odakinn Téged valaki? - kérdezte halkan. |
*Elhúzta a száját a másik lehetőség hallatára.
A kettő közül egyik sem volt egyszerűnek mondható....* |
- Vagy meg kell keresnünk a két sárkányt, akik a kiutat vigyázzák. De annak ára van, hogy ők kiengedjenek...... |
- Oh - *nyögött fel és kissé előrelógatott fejjel lépkedett előre.* |
- Itt nincs kijárat. Fel kell ébrednünk - felelte szárazon. |
